About Students

The Foundations of Consulting course is designed to provide students with fundamental knowledge about the consulting profession and the consulting process. Students will gain knowledge about typical phases of a consulting project: developing client relationships, selling a project, identifying a problem, gathering information, analyzing data, diagnosing issues, planning implementation, managing project, and leaving. 
 
Effort will be particularly placed on a) strengthening proficiencies in a range of analytical and research skills, b) client relationship and project team development capabilities, and c) integration of innovative thinking and problem solving required to practice management consulting and become an effective business leader.

Course Learning Objectives
 
Student will be able to 
1) Gain knowledge of the management consulting process and practices. 
2) Gain exposure to a variety of processes, frameworks, interventions needed for consulting and management decision making.
3) Learn to address key factors and issues for a successful consulting project management and relationship building engagement.
4) Improve ability to collect evidence and gather information, and conduct data analysis.
5) Develop critical thinking and creative problem solving to diagnose organizational issues.
6) Learn to present analyses of organizational challenges in a concise, accurate, clear and interesting manner for the client and superiors.
7) Learn how to interact successfully with project and organizational stakeholders by leveraging their strengths, weaknesses, preferences, and goals to navigate a successful project engagement.
